Arnside prom 1760 lapwing (counted from photographs) and 35 Dunlin on afternoon of 24th Jan. Occasional Little Grebe on the estuary at low tide at New Barns.

      Arnside garden birds winter 21/22.
Minus side. So far this winter we’ve lost our previously daily Tree Sparrows with no sightings at all until 2 birds Jan 30th. Also much scarcer with just a handful of sightings are Reed Bunting, Marsh Tit and Jay. Bullfinch numbers also well down though plenty around elsewhere.
Plus side. First garden record of Redpoll and regular visits from a couple of Siskin. With less than four previous records (except for flyovers) we have up to 12 Starlings in constant attendance and half a dozen House Sparrows. Male Blackcap and female Blackcap still around.

1 Great White and 1 Little Egret Silverdale Moss Jan 31st.

Hi Dave I didn’t count the Lapwings today but last Wednesday I counted 2200 -2300. Some remain on the nearby fields.
