Four hours trampling around Arnside Knott today produced 18 species of butterfly, including 10 Scotch Argus, 6 Northern Brown Argus, 1 Painted Lady and 1 very confiding White-letter Hairstreak.

Other species comprised: Small Skipper, Large White, Green-veined White, Common Blue, Holly Blue, Peacock, Comma, Speckled Wood, Wall, Grayling, Gatekeeper, Meadow Brown, Ringlet and Small Heath, but sadly no fritillaries.
