Big Park Birdwatch

Big Park Birdwatch

As usual, Friends of Williamson Park are organising an event to coincide with the Big Garden Birdwatch, partly aimed at those people who don't have a garden, but also more generally to encourage the public to participate in birding.

The note I have received from them says:
"Friends of Williamson Park: it was confirmed that we will be doing a simplified bird watch for BGB on Sunday 29th, meeting outside the outside the cafe at 10am, and after a walk round, returning to cafe to discuss findings around 11.15.

Apparently the RSPB have requested a stall, and will be outside the Butterfly House at some time during that day with activities for children, etc."

Anyone wanting further details please contact Joy Greenwood on joygreenwood25@yahoo.co.uk

I am happy to confirm that staff from the RSPB will be present in the park throughout the day.
A gazebo will be set up near the cafe / butterfly house where people can come to find out more about the RSPB Big Garden Birdwatch - which this year has been extended and can be done Sat, Sun or Mon.
There will be some free activities and plenty of advice about attracting wildlife into a garden or yard.

Thanks go to Pete Crooks for today's header photo of Aldcliffe. If you have a suitable picture of a local birding spot, why not send it to the webmaster, at andymccafferty@gmail.com? I need to resize (and if necessary crop) pictures to make them 600x130 pixels, so ideally send it at that size (definitely not smaller).
