If you have missed China at 7 p.m. on Saturday evenings on Channel 4, it is well worth watching on catch-up. It's the last episode this Saturday.

It features children exploring the environment, amongst other things showing concern for the spoonbill sandpiper. I find it fascinating because a) it shows what can be done with children, b) it gives hope for the future in China, c) it is extraordinary in that this programme is being shown in China. It gives a whole new look at the place and the people.
