Collard Dove

Whilst talking with a couple of friends last week they stated they hadn't seen any Collard Doves in their garden this year. So since then my wife and I have been working out when we last saw one and it was either the end of May or early June. So we have been looking around the Hornby Castle estate and in the village and have not seen a single bird.

Has anyone else noticed this decline?

It is so easy not to notice the loss of a bird that you see and hear daily until someone mentions it or you just notice something is wrong.

Thanks go to Pete Crooks for today's header photo of Aldcliffe. If you have a suitable picture of a local birding spot, why not send it to the webmaster, at andymccafferty@gmail.com? I need to resize (and if necessary crop) pictures to make them 600x130 pixels, so ideally send it at that size (definitely not smaller).
