Where are the swallows

Where are the swallows

Hi

I've never added a topic before, so I hope that this is a valid subject. Is there a shortage of swallows in Lancashire this year. We would normally have them nesting by now and usually see good numbers around Ashton/Tarnwater Lane and Sellerley. I have seen only one or two.

They are usually seen in good numbers at Preston marina (slightly out of the area, but where I work) and there are only one or two down there.

Has anyone noticed this or better still, has an explanation.

I'm a bit bereft without them.
Thanks.
Sue

Missing from several sites in the north eg Lowgill bus stop, Bridge Inn Tatham and several local farms - migration was a bit of a struggle against adverse winds

Thanks go to Pete Crooks for today's header photo of Aldcliffe. If you have a suitable picture of a local birding spot, why not send it to the webmaster, at andymccafferty@gmail.com? I need to resize (and if necessary crop) pictures to make them 600x130 pixels, so ideally send it at that size (definitely not smaller).
