Out of area?

Out of area?

There was a group of 15 snow buntings feeding in the frost on the summit of Ingleborough this afternoon. They flew off down the side of the hill that faces the Lune valley. There has also been an adult Med. gull in the West Rd./Giant Axe area of Lancaster since Saturday.

This is a coincidence! I was doing survey work all day with Ingleborough in view and did wonder about Snow Buntings. There was a good influx last autumn and I wouldnt be surprised if this extremely, as regards walking, high-ground-unfriendly winter were not to yield others over the next few days. Do you fancy Wards Stone next weekend, Guy?!

Thanks go to Pete Crooks for today's header photo of Aldcliffe. If you have a suitable picture of a local birding spot, why not send it to the webmaster, at andymccafferty@gmail.com? I need to resize (and if necessary crop) pictures to make them 600x130 pixels, so ideally send it at that size (definitely not smaller).
