Ashley's Farm
WAXWING
Single Waxwing flew from the Bentham direction, landed in tree then moved to the "front house" trees where I left it at 0920hrs. Three in three days for a former bogy bird as regards finding my own - really jammy!

Brambling
Still c25 at Barley Bank - possibly more flushed pre-arrival, a lot of dog walkers along road

Any news from Leighton Moss/Leighton Moss sightings book today - John Reddish could not make it today and he usually collects and publicises sightings?
e.g. GW Egret sightings or further reports of Common Crane apparently in book there from the very northern edge of our recording area by the southern end of the Kendal bypass (Natland turning).

HI PETE, FIVE MINUTES AFTER JOHN WILSON CAME OUT OF LOWER HIDE ,HAVING SEEN FOUR WATER RAILS WE WERE FORTUNATE ENOUGH TO SEE EIGHT,SIX TOGETHER AT THE BACK AND THEN ONE NEAR LHS FOLLOWED BY ANOTHER IMMEDIATELY NEAR RHS.STRICTLY NO DOUBLE COUNTING!! ALL NO DOUBT MOVED BY THE DREDGING.A RECORD COUNT FOR MYSELF,BUT NO DOUBT INSIGNIFICANT TO OTHERS.

The Purple sandpiper was showing well at Jenny Brown's point 11 - 11.30 this morning.
Also looked for Crane reported in LM log for yesterday, but only found a grey heron in the field. North of A 591 grid ref 505 985 near garages on both sides of dual carriageway.

I have responded politely and privately to this puzzling posting sent to me!

Sorry - I've just re-read my e-mail & it was badly worded - I meant stuff out of the Leighton Moss sightings book, not Leighton sightings. Thanks for sending them to the site.

Sorry again

Pete

Thanks go to Pete Crooks for today's header photo of Aldcliffe. If you have a suitable picture of a local birding spot, why not send it to the webmaster, at andymccafferty@gmail.com? I need to resize (and if necessary crop) pictures to make them 600x130 pixels, so ideally send it at that size (definitely not smaller).
