Lune Estuary area highlights this evening

Three Med Gulls, 2 Wheatears and a Green Sandpiper Aldcliffe. Wild ducks including 4 Shovelers, 5 Gadwall and the oversummering drake Wigeon. Breeding success for Tufted Ducks (at least 3 ducklings) on Freeman's Pools.

Whimbrel feeding on the Ashton stretch of the Lune. Video clip (sadly badly compressed by Twitter!) here: [twitter.com]

Nine Med Gulls on the Lune N of Glasson, also c.100 Dunlins and 5 Greenshank.

The juvenile Wood Sandpiper was feeding downstream of the railway bridge on Conder estuary, with Dunlins, Common Sandpipers and Redshanks.

2 juv Yellow Wagtails and 2 juv Willow Warblers Conder Pool, where the two juv Avocets are still going!
