I've been watching this area because of a history of lr plover but no success so far this year. Two interesting observations though. Last week there was a pair of moorhen and a mallard both with a handful of young plus a pair of coot. Today we had mallard and 4 well grown chicks choosing to hide gathered together under bright clumps of dandelion or buttercup. In addition a pair of moorhen foraging with no sign of young and a pair of coots with 5 young patrolling the whole pool. One of the adult coots attacked the mallard chicks when they found them and seemed to try and hold one under the water. It escaped. Interesting.
