Carnforth marsh and slag tips

Carnforth marsh 1915
11 shelduck
3 little egrets
111 lapwing

Over Galley Hall farm 1930
2 swallow
c100 martins

Slag tips 1940
No sign of usual wheatear
2 lapwing calling

On the sand 1945
Group of egrets seen distantly but gone by the time I got round to view them...
13 mallard
7 goosander
7+ curlew
c200 redshank + group of 23 flew down river onto the sands
1 greenshank
7 coot
Large group of lapwing
2 shelduck

There must've been over 1000 black-backed gulls across the estuary - never seen so many together in my life...
