Great crested grebe

In the absence of migrants great crested grebes chucking weed at each other with increasingly independent young are the current highlight looking at social media

However, what about those lingering displaying pairs which have (presumably the same) been off heyshsm and the SJ this last few weeks? Great crested grebe does breed in Northern Europe on waters which were certainly still frozen much later than this last year. Is that where these are eventually going to head?

A pair were displaying on the Lune off Conder Green last Sunday - also a third bird with them!

17 in total off Heysham Head in low tide channel this am with a lot of displaying

Still at least 11 off heyshsm head today with one pair with
