As epitomised by the meagre fare at Leighton Moss/EM complex away from the usual breeding birds, this weather at the moment is awful for migration observation with no major corridors from any helpful direction and very few short sharp showers to actually eg 'ground' a few waders. Epitomised by not a hint of a Black tern anywhere near here apart from a solitary individual on a Blackpool sea-watch. The only decent 'wait and see what happens' migratory birding this last week or so has been on/over the sea. Lets hope the forecasted easterlies have a bit of 'fetch' and we have a bit of rain with them. It also seems that Marshside and area is hoovering up the few decent birds which are heading in/through Lancashire's wetlands!
