Great White Egret -Holme

A single bird was feeding on the canal yesterday - seen twice, first dropping in near the cricket club and later on at the south end of the village.

Last winter, there were 2 GWE regularly feeding on the canal.

As the weather has got colder, the Little Egrets have started to reappear on the moss and at Holme Mill pond. They only tend to be sporadic during the summer. I have had upto 10 birds in the fields

Thanks go to Pete Crooks for today's header photo of Aldcliffe. If you have a suitable picture of a local birding spot, why not send it to the webmaster, at andymccafferty@gmail.com? I need to resize (and if necessary crop) pictures to make them 600x130 pixels, so ideally send it at that size (definitely not smaller).
