Spotted Crake - Leighton Moss

Keith Kellett heard a Spotted Crake calling to the right of the Causeway between the end of the Boardwalk and the Grit Trays at 8.00 am.

Also in the Leighton Moss area today:

Carnforth Marsh - 2 Great White Egret
Allen Pool - 41 Avocet (including 2 colour-ringed birds)
Lilian's Hide - 1 male Garganey
Causeway Hide - 1 Otter, 1 White Wagtail (on island), 2 male Marsh Harrier, c.500 hirundines (mostly Sand Martin and Swallow; at least 1 House Martin)
Brow Foot Farm - 2 Cattle Egret

Also: at least 6 singing Cetti's Warbler and c.3000 Black-tailed Godwit moving between Allen Hide and Lilian's Hide.
