WAXWING sightings or info on concentrations of berry laden ROWAN
Posted by pete marsh
12 waxwings next to Burrow Beck on Whinfell Drive Scotforth this afternoon (Saturday). They are mobile and I saw what I presume was the same group near the Boot and Shoe at about midday.
Still in the area on Sunday. A little egret was in the Beck at Hala also.

At least 36 Waxwings commuting between the tall trees just NE of Skerton Bridge and two berry trees in the nearby Farm Foods car park to 3.10 pm at least. (One of these berry trees is the just behind Pizza Hut if you are driving towards Lancaster city centre from the north, so its possible to see the Waxwings while you are stuck in the stationary traffic there!)
28 on pager from boot and shoe car park
Note the waxwings are targeting fallen Ro wan berries at the moment and "some" were seen at Newgate white Lund on the ground under Rowan last week 10-20ish as well as those at Pizza Hut

Thanks go to Pete Crooks for today's header photo of Aldcliffe. If you have a suitable picture of a local birding spot, why not send it to the webmaster, at email@example.com? I need to resize (and if necessary crop) pictures to make them 600x130 pixels, so ideally send it at that size (definitely not smaller).
