8am Happy Mount Park. Very little out of the ordinary - blackbird numbers up a little (16 mostly near the front) and two small tit flocks, both with coal tits present with the blues and greats.Small numbers of medium height movements - 1 jay, a 6 skylarks, 8 thrush sp (?blackbird, song thrush or redwing - didn't see for long enough) 1 mistle thrush, 7 greenfinches, 5 chaffinches - all going east or south east - ie along the coast.
8.45am Bare seafront to Scalestones. One flock of 24 pipits (meadow?) flying eastwards over the sea parallel to the coast until coming in towards the shore past Scalestones but couldn't find them when I got down there. Otherwise the usual plus 2 mergansers, 6+ great crested grebes, pair of eiders by Scalestone and 12 more flying a long way out.

Wouldnt have expected the Meadow Pipits to land, Jeff; they were "on the vis" and unless the weather gets really inclement, they will just keep on going at that time of day, no matter what height they choose to fly over the water. See Heysham vis for what happened along the coast today.
