The Leighton Moss log book includes a count of 650 Black-tailed Godwits at the same site on 11/11 (Keith Kellett). I think its worth stressing the seemingly exponential increase this species has exhibited in the Carnforth Marsh / Leighton Moss area in recent years, as illustrated by the following peak counts:

2000 - 34 at Eric Morecambe Pools on 29/10
2001 - 115 at EMP on 23/4
2002 - 165 at EMP on 7/10
2003 - 358 at EMP on 13/12
2004 - 650 near Carnforth on 11/11

Remember to keep checking for colour-ringed birds - 2 Icelandic ringed birds have visited the Eric Morecambe Pools on spring passage in recent years.
